From 1 July 2020, properties in the UK will require an ECIR electrical installation report before commencing a new tenancy. Landlords must prepare an electrical condition report to ensure the safety of their tenants and be able to prove that they have taken reasonable steps to do so. After completion and processing, the EICR electrical installation status report will be issued electronically in PDF format. It states whether the electrical installation is safe (satisfactory) or whether remedial work is required to ensure compliance with current safety standards.
